The High Lord of Shade Enclave, Telamont Tanshul, stood atop his own magic tower, watching the battlefield below.

It had been a very, very long time.

Clad in the black armor that symbolized sovereignty over Netheril, with a Dragon Wing cloak, bracers of a prescribed design, and dark purple robes, the High Prince of Shade Enclave gazed coldly at the battlefield before him. He said nothing, merely considering what he should do next.

Shade Enclave's history had already been covered earlier, so there was no need to repeat it here.

Telamont Tanshul had originally been known as Lord Shad. In Netheril's golden age, Archmage Shad had been utterly unremarkable compared with the other illustrious and powerful archmages. His obsession with researching shadow magic had also earned their contempt, and many circles of archmages had refused to include him.

Shad had paid them no mind. He had devoted himself to exploring the mysteries of the Shadowfell, repeatedly experimenting with ways to move his Flying City between the mortal world and the Shadowfell.

Those methods had ultimately saved Shade Enclave.

When Karsus had been preparing his thirteenth-circle spell, Shad had received a prophecy from Shar in advance and moved his Flying City into the Shadowfell the day before Netheril's fall. As events had proved, without Shad's quick thinking, Shade Enclave would have been doomed to crash like all the other Flying Cities.

Several weeks later, Shad had moved Shade Enclave back to Netheril. To their shock and horror, they had discovered that the empire had fallen. The archmage and his people had desperately searched for survivors, only to find none. Nor could Shade Enclave, a single city, stand against the Phaerimm. To avoid suffering the same fate as the other cities, Shad had decided to move Shade Enclave back into the Shadowfell.
