Ch. 41Creation

Petty planned to rent a better home while Zheng Yichen and Lolise discussed how his talent had strengthened a Magic Weapon. Zheng Yichen began creating an intermediate weapon modeled after Frostmourne, but still needed to add its intended magical attributes.

  • Petty decided to sell her remaining possessions gradually and rent a nice place rather than buy an ordinary house.
  • Lolise explained that Zheng Yichen’s talent had permanently strengthened the Magic Weapon by allowing it to accumulate more magic power.
  • Lolise showed Zheng Yichen clothes she had made from his scale dust, then asked him for more scale dust and blood.
  • Zheng Yichen studied Intermediate Magic Weapon Creation and successfully spent nearly two hours making a weapon modeled after Frostmourne.
  • Zheng Yichen searched for magic to give the new weapon an ice attribute and soul-drawing power, though the latter would require high-level magic.

Ch. 42Neighbors?

Zheng Yichen completed Frostmourne, then began making an Azurewrath-style weapon after learning the sinister sword would be unsuitable for a little girl to use. He discovered black-and-red-robed people investigating his blast site, and Lolise declared that anyone who entered her hidden home without permission deserved to die.

  • After several failed attempts, Zheng Yichen made Frostmourne with Frost, Corrosion, Soul Drain Spell, and Soulbinding Enhancement.
  • Lolise warned that a little girl could not safely carry the sinister sword, and Zheng Yichen decided to make an Azurewrath-style weapon instead.
  • Young Ghost Maids chased Zheng Yichen out of the castle while he was working on the unfinished Azurewrath.
  • Zheng Yichen used Projection Spell to spy on black-and-red-robed figures investigating the cratered site where he had made Magic Weapons.
  • Zheng Yichen told Lolise about the strangers, and she said anyone who entered her hidden home without permission was an intruder who deserved to die.

Ch. 43Final Preparations

Zheng Yichen finished making Azurewrath and prepared to let Summoners call forth projections of his Magic Weapons through a Summoning Book. After Lolise examined him, she revealed that his unusual soul had weakened his side of the contract with Petty, leaving Zheng Yichen to proceed with caution and explain the risks of the new system.

  • Zheng Yichen made Azurewrath, learning the Holy Church's Divine Protection spell and avoiding neighbors drawn by his earlier explosions.
  • He told Lolise he would link Magic Weapons to Summoning Spells by imprinting them with Summoning Marks anchored to his mental power.
  • Lolise examined Zheng Yichen and discovered that his Equal Contract with Petty bound Petty but had become little more than a verbal agreement for him.
  • Lolise warned Zheng Yichen that his unusual Otherworldly Soul could disregard contracts, and he agreed not to abuse that advantage.
  • Zheng Yichen began preparing a Summoning Book with a Projection Spell array so Summoners could summon weapon projections rather than risk destroying the real weapons.

Ch. 44Summoning Book

Zheng Yichen and Lolise completed a Summoning Book that let its users summon Magic Weapon projections, then invited the Ghost Maids to sign contracts with it. He brought the book to Petty, who was surprised to learn what it could do.

  • Zheng Yichen finished the Summoning Book with Lolise's help, using his mental energy and Magic Mark to link the book to his Magic Weapons.
  • Lolise signed the first contract, and nearly eighty Ghost Maids followed; Zheng Yichen learned that half of them had been victims in the Illusion Demon Forest.
  • Zheng Yichen found a spell in Bonnakane's magic book that could create Ghost Maids from a deceased person's soul and remains.
  • Lolise kept the Magic Weapons linked to the book because she could carry them in a space anchored to herself.
  • Zheng Yichen gave the Summoning Book to Petty at the edge of the Illusion Demon Forest, and she recognized that it let people summon Magic Weapons.

Ch. 45Something I Made Recently...

Zheng Yichen introduced Petty to the Magic Weapon Summoning Tome, a book that let its contract holders summon weapons and grew stronger as they used it. Petty signed on as its first contract holder and learned that the tome offered unusual potential and special privileges.

  • Zheng Yichen explained that he had recently created the Magic Weapon Summoning Tome and showed Petty how it worked.
  • Petty accepted the tome’s Equal Contract, imprinted her Summoning Mark, and became its first contract holder.
  • Petty summoned a basic sword and examined the tome’s weapon tiers, including powerful weapons she could not yet summon at full strength.
  • Zheng Yichen described how the Ghost Maids’ testing had strengthened the tome’s Magic Weapons and revealed their mana-gathering effects.
  • Zheng Yichen told Petty she could negotiate if others wanted the weapons she summoned, then mentioned her special privileges as the tome’s first contract holder.

Ch. 46Looking for Someone

Zheng Yichen explained the Magic Weapon Summoning Tome’s summon tiers and continued planning new weapons, then used a disguised projection to search Star City for someone suitable. He left the castle under cover of night, still looking for that person.

  • Zheng Yichen explained that standard summons had 1% to 69% of an original Magic Weapon’s power, while advanced and ultimate summons required stricter approval.
  • Zheng Yichen searched the Illusion Demon Forest for the people in black and red but found no trace of them, then developed plans for future Magic Weapons.
  • Zheng Yichen completed a Magic Weapon, recorded it in the summoning tome, and considered spreading word of the tome to protect a girl.
  • Lolise agreed that the girl could use protection and revealed that she had written novels when bored.
  • Zheng Yichen sent a weakened projection from the castle, disguised himself with an illusion, and began searching Star City for someone suitable.

Ch. 48The Letdown

Zheng Yichen sent out Magic Weapon Summoning Tomes to find suitable contractors, while rumors of the books spread through Star City and the academy. Petty felt overlooked after learning that many others, including Kesha, had become Magic Weapon Wielders.

  • Zheng Yichen ruled out elderly mages as contractors and decided to seek moderate-strength users, especially students, while still distributing tomes more widely.
  • Lolise gave Zheng Yichen a temporary human-looking avatar that would last twelve hours, and he took control of it before leaving the castle with a bag of single-use tomes.
  • Guards in Star City discussed rumors about the Magic Weapon Summoning Tome and its powerful weapons.
  • A Magic Weapon Summoning Tome appeared in front of the guards, leaving them stunned by their sudden good fortune.
  • Petty watched Kesha train and felt disappointed that other people had become Magic Weapon Wielders, including Kesha, who had found a tome two days earlier.
  • Kesha sat beside Petty and asked what was wrong after enjoying the weapons she could summon.

Ch. 49A Unique Advantage

Petty discussed the Magic Weapon Summoning Tome with Kesha and learned that their versions worked differently, leaving her convinced that she had a unique advantage. As word of the tome spread, more adventurers wanted to obtain one and sign a Magic Weapon Contract.

  • Petty told Kesha she could not decide which Magic Weapon category to choose from the tome.
  • Kesha explained that her summoned weapons grew stronger with repeated use and that she could focus on developing only one category.
  • Petty realized her tome let her summon any listed weapon at high strength if she met its power requirement, unlike Kesha’s version.
  • Kesha praised the tome because its summoned weapons were convenient, inexpensive, and could be dismissed without loss.
  • More adventurers sought the tome as knowledge of it spread.

Ch. 50Under Watch

After distributing Magic Weapon Contract Documents in Star City, Zheng Yichen was followed and attacked by people seeking to capture him. His undead human incarnation survived their poisoned blades, but more groups were also hunting him.

  • Zheng Yichen realized researchers studying the Contract Documents had lost mental power, while their investigations revealed the documents could accumulate magic.
  • After leaving Star City, Zheng Yichen noticed several dark figures following him and changed his route.
  • The black-clad pursuers attacked Zheng Yichen, wounding him with poisoned blades, but his undead body began healing and ignored the poison.
  • A pursuer demanded to know why Zheng Yichen was distributing the Magic Weapon Contract Documents, and Zheng Yichen said he was sharing a benefit.
  • The black-clad figures attacked again and tried to take Zheng Yichen, while their research had shown that signing a document granted a Summoning Mark for an independent Magic Weapon.
