Background / History

Zheng Yichen crossed over from Earth into a dragon body that had emerged from a stone. He spent his early months hunting, enlarging a concealed cave, and taking valuables from people who approached him as would-be dragon slayers. Although his strength grew quickly, he could only glide rather than fly 2 3 12.

Hunters eventually pursued him with heavy crossbows and a ballista. He tried to flee, then fought when surrounded; the ballista seriously injured him. Lolise took him from the hunters and brought him to an emptied town. There, she helped him learn the common tongue and identified the danger posed by his unusual soul and apparent lack of Dragon Aura 5 6 8 12 13.

Lolise kept him with her and directed his magical and physical training. After they moved to her castle in the Illusion Demon Forest, Zheng Yichen helped a group of students overcome the forest’s illusions. He later accepted an Equal Contract with one of them, the Summoner Petty Fergus. Her summons let him visit human society as a small projection, while their partnership helped inspire his Magic Weapon summoning system 13 19 24 25 30 31 43.

Appearance

Zheng Yichen’s true body is a rapidly grown dragon with claws, wings, and exceptionally tough scales 2 5.

• Size — His real body is more than three meters long by the time Petty first summons his projection 31.
• Wings — He initially manages gliding but not sustained flight in his true body 2.
• Scales — His own steel-rending claws leave only shallow marks unless he strikes with full force; heavy bolts can pierce the scales, and a ballista can badly injure him 5 6.
• Projected forms — Petty first summons him at roughly one-tenth of his true size; he can reduce the projection further by supplying less mana 31.

Personality

Zheng Yichen prefers to avoid killing and remains concerned for ordinary people, even after being hunted for his body. He checks whether the vanished townspeople are alive and subdues hallucinating students without seriously hurting them 5 21 25.

He is curious, playful, and especially absorbed by painstaking craft. Tinkering was his favorite hobby before crossing over, and he applies that interest to magic rather than accepting conventional spell formulas as fixed designs. He also intends to retain the values and memories of his life on Earth 20 34 36.

• Can cast from patterns inscribed in his consciousness or draw a temporary array, as he does for Minor Healing 16 26.
• Weaving a pattern from threads is useful for precise work but too slow compared with activating an inscribed spell in combat 35.

Magic Weapon creation

• Shapes weapons deliberately, combines enchantments, and makes a basic weapon whose structure persists beyond the usual one-day limit 33 34 36.
• Creates Frostmourne with Frost, Corrosion, Soul Drain, and Soulbinding effects; abandons an additional enchantment when it exceeds his control 42.
