Preparations Before the Blood Moon Season

After completing the first round of organizational adjustments, Shien, Gavin, and the others returned to Tear Knight City to report.

Yasol summoned several key personnel from military affairs and sacred affairs.

The battle at Egret Bay had not taken long, and the Recorder only went over a few key developments.

Yasol sat at the head of the long table. "What about the Joint Legion's new organization?"

Gavin replied, "The first batch of composite battle groups is working on coordination."

Yasol nodded once. "Continue with Shien's plan."

The Military Affairs Clerk entered that into the meeting minutes.

Yasol raised a hand, signaling for the battle review materials to be removed and the table cleared. "Bring those things up."

Several purification Clerics carried sealed cases in from a side room.

When the first case was opened, it revealed three processed resonance gill sacs.

The dark red tissue on the sacs' surfaces had faded considerably after purification, but several deeper sections still showed clear traces of Blood Moon contamination.

The Cleric in charge of the examination placed one report before Yasol. "The three Command Beasts were in similar condition. Their contamination was far more active than in Demon Beasts of the same kind found at this time in previous years."

He opened a small sealed box beside it, containing tissue taken from ordinary Gillsplitter Beasts. "This batch also showed early mutation.

"It wasn't as severe as in the Command Beasts, but there were quite a few cases. According to past records, these changes usually wouldn't begin appearing in large numbers until some time later."

A military officer lowered his head to check the dates, his brow gradually furrowing. "The first case of bloodgill mutation was discovered thirty-seven days before the predicted Blood Moon?"
