"He did it! He's the one who killed him, Captain Igaram."
"That's right. We saw it with our own eyes."
The onlookers immediately pointed at Hoss, the Bounty Hunter.
Hoss merely smirked. Without a word, he ran toward the thickest part of the crowd.
"Damn it! Stop right there!" Igaram wanted to chase Hoss, but Vivi was still there. She had been badly shaken and had yet to recover. He couldn't leave her alone.
But he was the captain of the Royal Guard, and so many people were watching. If he let a murderer escape, the residents of Alubarna might lose faith in the Guard.
While Igaram hesitated, Vivi pushed his hand away from her eyes. Her face was pale, but she tried to steady herself and smiled. "I'm fine, Igaram. Go on. Don't let him get away."
"But if I go, what will happen to you, Princess?"
"Igaram, you're the captain of the Guard. Protecting the people of Alabasta is your duty. If you give up chasing a murderer to protect me, what if he kills someone else? As the kingdom's princess, I can't put my own safety above the people's. Go on. I'm fine, really."
"Princess Vivi." Igaram looked ready to cry. "How noble of you, and you're only seven... All right. I understand."
Igaram turned to Lin Mo, who was about to leave the crowd. "The Guard should be here soon. I may not like you, but Lin Mo, please look after the princess until they arrive. Thank you!"
