Since boarding the ship, Kaku had taken a few beatings from Lin Mo, but he had never formally sparred with him.
The main reason was that Lin Mo simply wasn't the sort to initiate a fight with anyone.
For him to suddenly ask for a spar... had Kaku done something wrong?
"Ahem." Kaku couldn't help clearing his throat. "Captain, have I done something wrong?"
"No," Lin Mo said.
"Then why... are you suddenly in the mood to spar with me?"
"Can't sleep."
"Insomnia?" Kaku continued, "Perona happens to be making some juice that helps with sleep. I'll pour you a glass."
"No need..." Lin Mo said, sounding a little displeased. "You don't want to spar with me?"
"It's not that." Kaku smiled helplessly. "This is just a little sudden. I haven't quite caught up, hahaha... Captain, do you really want to spar with me?"
"Obviously..."
"Hahaha, all right. Let's do it." As he spoke, Kaku put away the Demon Spirit Short Sword in his hand.
Lin Mo frowned slightly and asked in confusion, "Why are you putting your sword away?"
"Demon Spirit harms the soul," Kaku said as though it were obvious. "Captain, you said we mustn't turn Demon Spirit against our own people."
"You think you can hurt me with Demon Spirit?"
"It's not a question of whether I can hurt you," Kaku said matter-of-factly. "It's a matter of principle. Captain, I won't use Demon Spirit against you."
Lin Mo said nothing.
After a moment of silence, Lin Mo asked flatly, "Do you have any other weapons?"
Looking embarrassed, Kaku said, "The Demon Spirit you gave me is excellent, Captain, so I haven't bought any other swords. The only other blades aboard are the kitchen knives, haha... How about we spar using Taijutsu instead?"
Lin Mo said nothing.
Taijutsu...
