Robin wanted to stay aboard the Going Merry. Luffy agreed, but Nami did not.
So now a man named Usopp, wearing sniper goggles, a light brown bandana, and loose brown overalls, was questioning Robin. He had a long nose.
"Answer my questions honestly," Usopp said with a serious look. "I'll ask you again. What's your name?"
The moment he finished, his attitude changed. "Oh, I'm Usopp. Nice to meet you."
"My name is Nico Robin," Robin answered calmly.
"Good. Nico Robin, what's your occupation?" Usopp asked.
"Archaeologist," Robin said.
"An archaeologist?" Usopp exclaimed.
"It's been the family profession for generations," Robin said with a smile.
Usopp scratched his head. "Oh, I see. A family background like that... And then?"
"I became an archaeologist, and the World Government put a bounty on my head when I was eight. I spent the next twenty years on the run," Robin continued, still smiling.
"You were wanted at eight? Were you alone the whole time?" Usopp asked.
"Well, a child couldn't survive at sea alone. To protect myself and pursue my goals, I chose to deal with all kinds of villains. That's all there is to it," Robin said lightly.

Robin made it sound like nothing, but Zoro and Nami, who had been listening nearby, both looked grim.
"So Crocodile was just one of them," Usopp said gravely.
"That's right. I was looking for a Poneglyph," Robin replied.
"A Poneglyph..." Usopp repeated.
"Thanks to them, I've become quite good at working behind the scenes. I'm sure I can help you too."
"Oh, you sound confident..." Usopp eyed her suspiciously. "What are you good at?"
Robin thought for a moment, then rested her cheek on one hand. "Assassination," she said lightly.
At that, Usopp nearly burst into tears.
