Sweat had even appeared on Son Goku's forehead. That alone showed how far Xia Le's strength exceeded his expectations.
Even turning Super Saiyan could not close the gap between them.
For the first time, Son Goku realized someone in this Universe could be so powerful.

Son Goku gritted his teeth.
He lunged forward, firing punch after punch at Xia Le's face.
But Xia Le merely shifted his head, evading every punch with exquisite precision. Not a single movement was wasted.
Each time a fist was about to touch him, he slipped aside.
Son Goku threw a kick, but Xia Le only had to raise a knee to stop it.
A dozen or so seconds later, Son Goku flipped backward and landed on the ground.
Then he took a deep breath, smiled, and said with admiration,
"You're too strong!"
"Mr. Xia Le, you're incredible. I'm no match for you yet."
Xia Le smiled faintly and let his aura fade.
"Dad, of course you're no match for Xia Le right now."
"Besides being an Earth warrior, he's also Earth's God. Actually, Xia Le has already become an Apprentice Supreme Kai."
Son Gohan spoke with a smile.
"A God?"
Son Goku blinked, astonished all over again.
"That's amazing."
"Mr. Xia Le, you're the strongest God I've ever met."
Xia Le smiled. "I'm only the God of Earth in our timeline."
"And I've only begun to learn how Gods fight."
Son Goku marveled again. "That's still incredible. It's beyond anything I imagined."
Son Gohan spoke up again. "We came back this time to help all of you grow stronger!"
At that, Son Goku dropped out of his Super Saiyan state and pressed his fists together. "Then I'm counting on you, Gohan!"
