Kuta needed no further words. A-Luo stepped forward, drew Hell Hound, braced it against his shoulder, and stared ahead. Killing intent flashed in his eyes as he pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Pop!

The bullet left the barrel with a sound too faint to hear, barely audible beneath the spark at its base.

Then everyone saw a streak of white light. The sphere in the bullet's path exploded.

Boom!

Before the sphere had fully exploded, the translucent bullet struck it and seemed to

teleport straight in front of Shadley's head.

The instant A-Luo raised his gun, Shadley sensed danger. His pupils contracted, and he jerked his head to the right.

His reaction was fast, but he had never imagined A-Luo's bullet could be that fast.

He dodged it, but the bullet tore through his left ear.

Boom!

A tremendous explosion erupted behind him.

The shock wave came at once. With no time to worry about his ear, Shadley flattened himself against his sphere and flew behind a tree, escaping the flames and blast.

Only after the shock wave passed did he cautiously guide his sphere back out.

"Uh..."

When he saw the tree behind where he had stood, his throat seized. He could not make a sound. His perpetual smile vanished, his pupils shrank to pinpricks behind his glasses, and terror filled his face.

"What was that? How could it be so powerful?"

The tree behind him looked as though something had taken a bite out of it. One side was utterly destroyed; on the other, only a sliver of bark still supported the giant trunk.

A gust of wind blew past, and the tree toppled.
