On the roof of the enormous wooden house.

The blue-haired girl sat on the eaves, cheeks faintly flushed and arms wrapped around her knees, gazing up at the sky.

Cold moonlight reflected in her cool eyes, lending them a chilly gleam.

It was hard to tell whether she was admiring the moon or waiting for someone.

A breeze stirred her loose blue hair like silk fluttering in the wind. From afar, the girl looking up at the moon and the stillness around her formed a breathtaking picture.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?"

A silver-haired young man in a moon-white shirt appeared silently to her left.

The girl tensed the instant he appeared, then relaxed as soon as she heard his familiar, gentle voice.

She lifted her head. Her cool expression thawed, and she gave him a beautiful smile.

Kuina did not answer Kuta's question. Instead, she asked with a smile, "You took so long to come back. Did you find something interesting?"

"I met someone interesting, and confirmed something I'd expected."

With that, Kuta sat down beside her.

She released her knees, leaned left, and rested against his shoulder.

Tilting her head to study his profile, she asked curiously, "Come on, tell me. Who was it? What happened?"

He glanced down at her, affection in his eyes. Then he looked up, took the Wine Gourd from his waist, and slowly told her about the person he had met and what he suspected between sips.

Under the moonlight, the girl watched him talk with a smile on her lips and tenderness in her cool eyes. She gazed at his handsome profile as though she could never get enough of it.

Huddled together, their shadows merged and stretched far across the roof. Like the ancient moonlight, they seemed destined to last forever.
