The encounter with Kaido, and an old story about him and Whitebeard / The Whitebeard Pirates prepare to join the battle
Whitebeard burst into laughter. "Gurararara! Hahahaha! Hahahahaha! Roger, you really are—"
"Welcome to the Roger Pirates, Kozuki Oden!"
"Let's have a party! Welcome our newest member!"
Aboard the Moby Dick, Marco asked, puzzled, "Pops, why did you let Oden join Roger's crew?"
Whitebeard laughed. "We may be pirates, but we still have to honor our word. Didn't he say he was only borrowing Oden for three years? When the time comes, we'll bring Oden home!"
"Oh!"
Gazing at the undisturbed deep sea, Whitebeard's eyes grew solemn. Roger! Prove it to me!
Chapter 231: The encounter with Kaido, and an old story about him and Whitebeard
Time flew by.
One day, another visitor arrived at Dongze's ship.
An uninvited visitor, of course.
A dragon's roar rang out overhead, scattering the clouds for miles around. They heard him before they saw him.
A thick pillar of fire streaked toward their little boat like a meteor, trailing a long tail behind it.
Well, that was familiar. The first time Dongze had met him, Kaido had opened with a Bolo Breath to the face too.
A hint of puzzlement entered Dongze's eyes. Since arriving in this time, he hadn't gone looking for trouble with Kaido. Had the man come rushing over to die?
On the sea roughly two hundred miles behind Kaido, Whitebeard's mouth twitched.
The whole thing had started with that little bottle.
He looked at the small iron bottle in his hand, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
It was the one Roger had given him.
About three days earlier, he had opened it.
When he unscrewed the cap, he found liquor inside. Ordinarily, that would have been nothing special. Whitebeard had traveled far and wide; what fine liquor hadn't he tasted?
But the moment its aroma drifted out, he froze.
