Was the Third Hokage brainwashing Naruto?

Watching the Third Hokage's kindly face, as warm as a grandfather next door, Minato Namikaze had never felt so sickened.

That old man always showed up just when Naruto had been mistreated, offering him a little warmth.

Then he followed it with a string of lines about the Will of Fire!

He was determined to turn Naruto into a tool for his rule over Konoha!

At that very moment, the Third Hokage was fondly stroking Naruto's head, like a grandfather with his grandson.

Even the normally levelheaded Minato Namikaze was losing control.
