"The legendary Pokémon of the Hoenn Region: Groudon, the creator of the continents, and Kyogre, the source of the oceans."
Kaoru Suzuki nodded. "These are the exceptions to evolutionary theory, two great powers that stepped out of legend and into the world."
The atmosphere grew heavy for a moment. Even now, the damage from the volcanic eruption and tsunami lingered, and rescue efforts were still ongoing.
As if trying to dispel the mood, Dian spoke slowly. "Kyogre and Groudon aren't invincible. Besides, even their power is gradually waning now. That's why they keep sleeping—to conserve and recover their strength."
That was what he said, but he had witnessed the force of a volcanic eruption himself. It was far beyond anything human strength could withstand.
And Groudon could control all volcanic lava. In terms of sheer power, even the Darkrai and Celebi he had met could hardly compare.
And then there was... Primal Groudon, and its Ability, Precipice Blades...
Whew...
Dian could not help sighing. "I didn't expect you to have researched all this too, Professor Suzuki."
"Growth promotion theory is a supplement to the field of evolution to begin with. Besides, with research into Mega Evolution in the Kalos Region all the rage right now, I certainly don't want to fall behind as a professor."
Kaoru Suzuki looked utterly confident. As a professor specializing in evolution, she had her own pride. "I think current Mega Evolution research is far too conservative."
"They're only studying existing Mega Evolutions while constantly putting pressure on the powerful families of the Kalos Region, hoping to obtain every step of the Mega Evolution ritual and so on. All they've achieved is to turn those ancient families against them."
"They're so fixated on the cards those families hold that they've completely forgotten Mega Evolution was originally
