That night, Dian took Misdreavus out for a stroll and forcibly dragged Meloetta along as well.
"Mis~" Bored, Misdreavus tilted her head back to look at the moon, then lowered it to tug at her hair. Her red eyes wandered around, searching for something interesting.
Suddenly, with a bang, a figure appeared in the forest bathed in clear moonlight.
"Melo!" Meloetta immediately turned invisible and hid behind Dian, her little hands nervously clutching his clothes. "Melo, Melo!"
"Mis?" Misdreavus blinked. A ghost? A spirit? She quickly shook her head. "Mis, Mis!"
"Phew..." At that, Meloetta sighed in relief and patted her chest with her little musical-note hands. Then she curiously peeked over Dian's shoulder.
It turned out that a red-haired boy in red clothes, with an honest-looking face, had inexplicably fallen to his knees ahead of them.
Dian glanced at him in puzzlement, then walked closer to get a better look. Finding him somewhat familiar, he asked, "You're Ash's friend, Morrison, right?"
"Who are you?" Morrison looked up at him, confusion flickering in his eyes. Finally, as though he had remembered something, he stood and wiped his nose.
"Mis?" Misdreavus looked past the "all-red Morrison" before her toward a vacant-looking Metang behind him. "Mis~"
With a flicker, she floated over to Metang and curiously examined it from every angle. This was her first time seeing a Pokémon like this.
By contrast, Meloetta remained shyly hidden behind Dian, timidly studying the human before her. All dressed in red... he looks so scary. "Melo..."
After exchanging a few words with Morrison, Dian learned that Ash had defeated Paul and Takeshi in succession with Charizard, Pikachu, Snorlax, and Sceptile. His next opponent was Morrison.
Having never battled a close friend before, Morrison was torn between victory and friendship.
