"Emol!" An energetic cry rang out from behind Elesa. The Emolga that had appeared earlier spread its yellow gliding membranes again, circled through the air as though it had wings, and landed gracefully on the battlefield.
"The opening Pokémon are Teddiursa and Emolga!" the announcer declared into his microphone. "The official three-on-three battle is about to begin!"
"Both sides, begin!" The referee immediately swept down his red and white flags.
"Emolga, Tailwind!" Elesa wasted no time issuing the first command.
Emolga should know Baton Pass. Information about his opponent flashed through Dian's mind. She was most likely planning to use Emolga's mobility to set up a Baton Pass strategy.
Watching the cute figure glide into the air to summon a gale, he calmly gave a command. "Roar!"
"Roooar!" Teddiursa immediately shut its eyes and drew a deep breath, then unleashed a tremendous roar utterly at odds with its tiny body!
"Teddiursa has let out an astonishingly powerful roar!" The announcer watched Emolga get forced back into its Poké Ball. "Camomile has been forced to switch Pokémon! Who will take the field next?!"
He stared at the little white fish that sprang out of the red light. "...It's the Electric-type Pokémon, Tynamo!"
The spectators in the stands, the tourists watching the big screen outside, and even the competitors backstage all stared at the Pokémon with complicated expressions.
Tynamo was an all-white EleFish Pokémon barely twenty centimeters long, affectionately known as the "Electric-type Wishiwashi."
"It's so tiny..." Max adjusted his glasses. "Is that little thing really a Gym Leader's Pokémon?"
He looked down at the little dried fish, so small that anyone not looking closely would miss it entirely.
"Tynamo, an Electric-type Pokémon. It can only generate a weak electric charge, so many of them must gather together to deliver a powerful
