Pheobe pondered for a moment, rubbing the fabric of her dress with her left hand.
What had just happened proved that Sableye really was no match for Misdreavus when it came to Ghost-type abilities. There was no point in wasting more time testing that.
But Sableye was not purely a Ghost-type Pokémon. It had another type—Dark!
"Dark Pulse!"
Dark-type attacks were also super effective against Ghost-type Pokémon.
Sableye abruptly pulled back, retreating as the previously motionless black mist ahead churned like an invisible beast and surged toward it at high speed.
Its tall, pointed ears twitched as it heard Pheobe's command. Its rapidly retreating figure came to an abrupt halt, and the Red Jewel on its chest suddenly turned black, until its entire body was shrouded in darkness.
"Yami—!"
Sableye drew a deep breath and let out a piercing cry. With that cry, the enormous Dark-type power gathered in its body erupted into a shock wave and collided with the black mist right before it.
The instant black met black, time seemed to stand still. Even the sound of the waves and wind chimes seemed to fade away, leaving only that darkness, deep and cold.
"..." Pheobe suddenly pursed her lips, as though displeased, or perhaps... Then she smiled and slowly sighed.
Just then, the black mist that had been locked in a stalemate swallowed the Dark Pulse whole. Yet just as it was about to devour Sableye as well, it abruptly vanished.
A flicker of emotion crossed Sableye's otherwise expressionless face—something like frustration, or perhaps awe.
It knew this was not a sign that its opponent had exhausted her strength breaking through Dark Pulse. It was a display of effortless control—proof that Misdreavus had not been giving it her all!
The Red Jewel on Sableye's chest began flashing intensely.
