The crimson pillar of fire seemed to ignite Charizard's heart, making its narrow draconic eyes flicker like flames.

The power of the Sandstorm slowly subsided. Everyone on and around the field could see a mighty Charizard trapped within layers of Rock Barriers. Though covered in wounds, it remained imposing, worthy of its place as one of the Kanto Region's Fire-type starter Pokémon!
Even Dian could not help voicing his admiration at the sight. Fire-type Trainers revered Charizard for good reason.
Although Charizard were not Dragon-types, nearly all possessed a Dragon Heart: domineering, unwilling to yield, tough and resilient. Sometimes, even knowing how things would end, they refused to give up and fought to the very last.
For a battle-oriented Pokémon, that was indeed an ideal temperament.
Of course, that did not rule out the existence of sweet, adorable Charizard that flirted with their eyes, though those were probably exceedingly rare.
Most Charizard, even females, were extremely fierce in battle.
