Honestly, I never thought I would keep writing this long.
When things fell apart midway through, I wanted to just drop it. I figured starting over would bring better, steadier results.
In the end, I suppose I just couldn't bear to let it go, so I kept writing.
There were off-putting bits at the beginning, even the single-character name put people off, and then came the problems with my first attempt at writing a female lead. Later, a pile of frustrating real-life issues sent things off track again.
Now, I want to thank all the readers who have stayed with me through it all.
Thinking about it now, as a beginner, I could have written anything, yet I insisted on writing a female lead—and refused to give up. Yeah, I must have lost my mind.
But I always wanted to leave something behind, to make Dian's life feel more real.
So I'm certainly not an outstanding author.
I've spent a year writing this book, and by now, thinking about the books I've read myself, what ultimately sticks with me isn't how amazing a book's plot was, but its characters.
Even if you asked me why a character was the way they were, I could only answer blankly that that was simply who they were.
So even when the book's performance dropped dramatically midway through, I kept writing, because if I didn't write it, it would never be written.
Even in my new book, my main focus is on the characters, so I doubt it will do well.
People in the group have said as much, and I anticipated that from the start.
