"Would you believe me if I said I was Caesar?" Roland asked awkwardly.

"Do you take me for a fool?" The golden light in the shadow's eyes grew brighter. "Why do you have Caesar's bloodline?"

"Well..." Roland fell silent for a moment. "Would you believe me if I said it was a reward for doing a good deed?"

In the real world.

"What are you doing?" Superman was startled when Batman suddenly inserted a disc into Roland's head.

"Don't panic. I'm helping him." Batman looked grim.

The disc spun rapidly inside Roland's head without leaving a scratch.

"It isn't solid?" Superman found that strange. If the disc had been solid, Roland's brains should have been flung out.

But if it wasn't solid, how had Batman picked it up?

"I don't know what it is either, but inserting it into Roland's head summons someone invisible," Batman said.

Roland slowly sat up. "How did you know?"

"I saw you use it and made an educated guess," Batman explained. "Are you all right?"

"For now." Roland didn't look well.

"If you need help, tell me," Batman said.

"I don't think you can help with this." Roland shook his head. "Let's go. Grodd's consciousness is gone, but I'd feel safer if we dealt with his body too."

"I agree." Batman nodded.

"Are you two hiding something from me?" Superman asked suspiciously.

"No," they said in unison.

They headed deeper into Gorilla City. It was a high-tech metropolis, more prosperous than Metropolis, with electronic screens everywhere displaying images of gorillas.

"I didn't expect this," Superman said, looking around.

"Neither did I," Roland said. "Who knew these gorillas had such advanced technology?"

"Their technology developed along different lines from ours," Batman observed.

"Think we could bring something useful back?" Roland perked up.

"Wouldn't that be wrong?"
