"This is the first time I've seen someone boast about being rich in front of Batman," Roland quipped. "Are you sure the one you had Wade seduce was a demon?"
"This is also the first time I've seen you meet Batman without asking to borrow money." Superman glanced at Batman. "Now that's impressive."
"I do have an idea," Batman said. "It'll solve your problem once and for all."
"What is it?" Constantine asked eagerly.
"Isn't it obvious? When ordinary people can't deal with demons, they turn to the church." Batman tipped his chin toward Roland. "And we happen to have a priest of outstanding virtue and ability right here."
"Will that work?" Constantine looked at Roland. He knew Roland was powerful, but someone else had his heart. What could Roland do about that?
"Easy enough." Roland rubbed his hands together. "It's just that our church has so many children to support—"
"That's no problem." Constantine waved a hand. "Better to give you the money than a demon."
"Good. I have three plans: best, middling, and worst. Take your pick," Roland said. "The best plan is the same as last time. Threaten to kill yourself unless he gives your heart back, and start a civil war among the Three Kings of Hell."
"Will that work?"
"If we play it right, we won't just get your heart back. We can extort some extra goodies, too."
"What if Satan doesn't believe I'll kill myself?" Constantine felt something was off.
"Then slit your throat in front of him. It's not like he can't bring you back," Roland encouraged him. "Don't be scared. Pull this off, and we'll be set for life."
"What if he still refuses after bringing me back?"
"Then keep killing yourself. See who outlasts who—"
"You're certainly willing to make sacrifices!"
