An Encounter at Sea

Some time had passed since Bai Shi left Twinleaf Town.

Bai Shi was aboard a small passenger ship, slowly making his way toward the Kalos Region.

After the first few days of adjustment, Bai Shi had grown used to the dull monotony of life at sea.

Whenever he had free time, Bai Shi stayed in his room, reading books about Pokémon native to the Kalos Region.

He was preparing in advance for the Pokémon he would catch once he arrived.

Given his special affinity for Normal-type Pokémon, Bai Shi looked through their entries first.

As it turned out, there were quite a few Normal-type Pokémon unique to the Kalos Region.

Bai Shi counted them and found a full five different species of Normal-type Pokémon.

They were Bunnelby, Fletchling, Litleo, Furfrou, and Helioptile.

"Bunnelby is a pure Normal-type Pokémon. It can evolve into Diggersby, a Normal- and Ground-type, and its Abilities are Pickup, Cheek Pouch, and Huge Power."

"A Bunnelby with Huge Power would certainly be worth catching."

"As it happens, my team is missing a powerhouse."

"Fletchling is a Normal- and Flying-type, but becomes a Fire- and Flying-type after evolving. It's known for its speed, so its role seems to overlap with Staraptor's."

"Litleo is a Fire- and Normal-type. It can evolve into Pyroar, which has distinct male and female forms."

"One of Team Flare boss Lysandre's main Pokémon is a Pyroar."

"Perhaps I could follow his example and catch one to raise myself."

"Furfrou is a pure Normal-type. Its Ability, Fur Coat, reduces damage from physical attacks, and its speed is decent."

"But it doesn't have much else going for it."

"As for Helioptile, it's a Normal- and Electric-type, and its final evolved form is Heliolisk."

"I still have Electrike to raise, so I won't consider it for now."
