After leaving Nacrene City, Bai Shi headed toward Castelia City while keeping an eye on the wild Pokémon he encountered along the way.

He hoped to find a suitable Grass-type Pokémon to catch.

Compared to Pokémon of other types, Grass-type Pokémon might not have been everywhere, but they were still very common.

Shortly after entering the wilderness, Bai Shi spotted several Deerling.

"Deerling is a Normal- and Grass-type Pokémon, with Chlorophyll, Sap Sipper, or Serene Grace as its Ability. It can evolve into Sawsbuck."

"And the color of its fur changes with the seasons."

"Judging by its typing and traits, it would suit my fast-offense style pretty well."

"But I've already caught quite a few Pokémon with a similar style."

"There doesn't seem to be much point in catching another one."

Bai Shi hesitated, but ultimately decided against catching one.

He let the Deerling disappear from sight.

After all, Deerling were hardly rare in the Unova Region.

If he changed his mind, he could always catch one later.

"Whoosh~"

Just as Bai Shi was about to look for other Grass-type Pokémon, a sudden gust of wind swept past.

A soft, unidentified object fell from the sky and smacked him in the face.

"Damn it! What jerk is throwing stuff from up there?"

Caught in this unprovoked mishap, Bai Shi couldn't help swearing.

He hurriedly reached up and pulled the thing off his face.

But when he took a closer look, he discovered that it wasn't falling garbage at all, but a living Pokémon.

It was snow-white and oval-shaped, with pale green cotton growing on the top of its head and beneath its chin.

On either side of its body was a curled leaf with a notch in it.

"Isn't this... a Cottonee?"

After a few glances, Bai Shi recognized it.
