A close call

"Zebstrika, step into the spotlight!"

After Emolga's defeat, Elesa quickly sent out her second Pokémon.

"Palpitoad, I'm counting on you again!"

Bai Shi stuck to his strategy and kept Palpitoad on the field.

Zebstrika was a pure Electric-type Pokémon, giving the Water- and Ground-type Palpitoad a type advantage.

"Palpitoad, use Supersonic!"

As soon as the match resumed, Bai Shi launched the first attack.

Palpitoad opened its mouth and sent rings of invisible sound waves toward Zebstrika.

"Zebstrika, use Quick Attack!"

Elesa commanded Zebstrika without a change in expression.

Zebstrika pushed off with all four legs, turning into a white arrow as it burst forward at incredible speed and easily dodged Palpitoad's Supersonic.

Then it charged straight at Palpitoad.

"Palpitoad, use Acid!"

Bai Shi calmly gave Palpitoad its command.

Facing the charging Zebstrika, Palpitoad opened its mouth wide and spat out a mass of dark purple liquid.

"Zebstrika, use Flame Charge!"

Elesa had been prepared and gave her command in time.

Searing flames suddenly erupted around Zebstrika, enveloping its body.

The liquid Palpitoad had spat out met the flames and evaporated into vapor on contact.

Zebstrika then carried its momentum forward, slamming straight into Palpitoad's chest and sending it flying.

Fortunately, Palpitoad's Water typing kept it from taking too much damage.

"Zebstrika, use Double Kick!"

Elesa kept up the pressure, ordering Zebstrika to continue attacking.

Zebstrika spun around, raised its hind legs, and landed two consecutive kicks on Palpitoad.

Palpitoad let out a pained cry, clearly having taken considerable damage.

"Palpitoad, use Aqua Ring!"

Seeing this, Bai Shi hurriedly called out to Palpitoad.

A stream of blue water circled Palpitoad's body, slowly helping it recover its strength.

"Zebstrika, don't give it a chance to recover! Use Quick Attack!"

Elesa naturally refused to stand by and immediately launched a fierce attack.
