Just as Bai Shi was basking in the joy of catching Excadrill, a deafening roar suddenly rang out from deep within the cave.
Bai Shi looked toward the source and saw a reddish-brown Pokémon charging furiously at him. It resembled a shell-less turtle, with hard metal covering its head and limbs and cross-shaped claws.
"H-Heatran?!"
Once Bai Shi recognized it, his pupils constricted, and his face filled with shock and confusion.
Could someone tell him why the Legendary Pokémon Heatran was here?
Worse, judging by its expression and movements, it seemed intent on attacking him.
"Heatran!" (Any creature that dares offend me must be punished!)
Heatran opened its enormous maw and unleashed a dark red pillar of fire at Pyroar, scorching hot as molten lava.
It had been sleeping soundly deep in the cave when the fierce battle between Pyroar and Excadrill woke it.
As punishment for disturbing the god of volcanoes, it had to teach them a lesson they would never forget.
"Pyroar, retreat!"
Without time to think, Bai Shi hastily leaped onto Pyroar's back, then immediately turned and raced toward the cave entrance.
Heatran pursued relentlessly, chasing Bai Shi all the way out of the cave.
"You've gone too far! I'll take you on!"
When Heatran refused to let up, Bai Shi's humiliation turned to anger, and he decided to face it head-on.
Without hesitation, he released most of his Pokémon, preparing to gang up on Heatran.
Facing Bai Shi's many Pokémon, Heatran showed no fear and opened its mouth to unleash Heat Wave.
A surging wave of red heat swept toward the Pokémon.
After witnessing Heatran's might, the Pokémon Bai Shi had sent out quickly acted, using various moves to dodge or defend.
Only Whimsicott was so cowed by Heatran's presence that it failed to react
