Ch. 161Ralts wanted to learn to fly
Plot points and events
- With the Kitakami resort busy, Mingyou leaves the Haunted House area to shop for Christmas decorations before heading home.
- Akari messages him from Carmine’s house, inviting him over. Mingyou and Wyrdeer eagerly change plans to see her.
- On the way, they spot a wild Ralts watching a film through a window. Inspired by what it sees, Ralts climbs a tree and tries to fly, but crashes into the snow. Startled by Mingyou, it trips while fleeing and uses Teleport to escape.
- Mingyou realizes Ralts may be imitating the movie, then meets Akari, who has come to collect him. They greet Wyrdeer and talk about Ogerpon and Mingyou’s effort to correct Kitakami’s beliefs about her and the Loyal Three.
- At Carmine’s gate, Kieran confronts Mingyou and demands a rematch, insisting he will not accept defeat this time.
Character developments and interactions
- Mingyou remains curious and thoughtful, but Ralts’s immediate panic makes him wonder whether he is difficult to approach. He is also committed to changing public opinion about Ogerpon, not merely revealing the facts.
- Ralts is shy and socially anxious, yet determined enough to imitate flight after watching a film. Its failed attempt and startled escape establish both its innocence and its difficulty connecting with people.
- Akari is warmly eager to reunite with Mingyou and the others, though she disguises her anticipation as concern that he might not find the house. She and Mingyou exchange teasing, affectionate remarks.
- Wyrdeer shares Mingyou’s excitement at Akari’s return and greets her happily.
- Kieran appears more determined and intense than before, setting up a renewed rivalry with Mingyou.
