"Weren't they?" Wang Peng asked, confused. Was the Sea God to blame too?
"With power comes responsibility. The Sea God receives the faith of the entire sea, so protecting it should be his duty. But what has he protected?"
Neuvillette turned to meet Wang Peng's bewildered gaze. "The sea I've seen under his protection is overrun with pirates, yet Sea God Island does nothing to capture them as Spirit Hall does on the mainland. And any Soul Beast that submitted to the Sea God ten thousand years ago is considered good—even a Demon Soul Great White Shark you saw devour an innocent person. Meanwhile, Evil Spirit Orcas that never submitted to him are called evil merely for hunting Soul Beasts to survive. Shouldn't a Sea God like that be judged?"
"The Sea God may have his own interests. He needn't be perfect. But he cannot fail to protect the people who give him their faith."
