Professor Binns set down his notes and continued, "Everything I just told you is supported by historical records, yet people seem more interested in ridiculous legends. According to the legend, Salazar Slytherin built a chamber inside the castle without telling the other three and kept a terrifying, evil creature of dark magic there. When he left the school, he sealed the chamber."
"Rumor has it that only his true heir can open that chamber, release the monster inside, and command it to purge... young wizards with Muggle blood flowing through their veins!"
When the legend of the Chamber of Secrets ended, silence fell over the classroom. It was not the lifeless silence of a dull lesson, but an uneasy silence in which everyone held their breath, afraid to speak.
"Professor, do you know where the Chamber of Secrets is?" Luo Bin asked.
"The school has, of course, investigated whether such a chamber exists within the castle. The result is plain: there is no Chamber of Secrets. This legend is merely a story meant to frighten simple-minded young wizards!"
"Professor, what exactly did you mean by the 'terrifying, evil creature of dark magic' you mentioned?"
Hermione raised her arm high as she pressed the question.
Professor Binns had a feeling that if he dodged the young witch's question, she would keep pestering him.
"It is generally believed to be a monster endowed with extraordinary magic, which only Slytherin's true heir can control and command!"
A wave of sharp intakes of breath rose from the students, and then their expressions gradually split into two distinct camps!
The students of Slytherin House considered themselves pure-bloods and believed they would never become targets of the Chamber Monster. With mocking, derisive looks, they watched the frightened expressions on the faces of the Gryffindor House students
