Background / History

Before arriving at Hogwarts, Hermione memorized her first-year textbooks. In her first Transfiguration lesson, she resents Professor McGonagall’s praise of Luo Bin, then comes to admire his work and becomes the only other student to turn a match into a needle 7. After Harry and Ron rescue her from a troll on Halloween, she takes responsibility when McGonagall questions them; the three reconcile 15.

Hermione joins Harry, Ron, and Luo Bin in their attempt to protect the Philosopher’s Stone. She solves the seven-bottle logic puzzle guarding the final passage, identifies the ways forward and back, and returns to seek help while Harry continues 48 52.

During their second year, Hermione investigates the Chamber of Secrets attacks. She researches the Chamber, challenges suspicions about Harry, and obtains access to Moste Potente Potions for a plan to question Draco Malfoy using Polyjuice Potion 147 158 161 162. Personality

Hermione is studious, outspoken, and intensely competitive. She wants to excel in class, playfully vows to beat Luo Bin in their second-year exams, and selects every available elective without first resolving possible timetable clashes 7 93 209. She can be quick to judge: after Luo Bin treats Draco, she wrongly assumes he is seeking favor with the Malfoys and regrets the accusation 22.

She is fiercely protective of her friends. Hermione defends Harry and Luo Bin after their unauthorized flight, insists on accompanying Luo Bin to a potentially hostile meeting with Salasha, and pulls Salasha away when she shoves him toward a tower drop 11 109 112.
