At noon, after Transfiguration class ended, a ravenous Luo Bin ran so fast that his robes flapped around him.
After a whole morning of classes, he desperately needed carbs to replenish his energy. Suddenly, someone grabbed his arm and yanked him over to a pillar before he could react!
"What do you want with me?"
If he got there too late, all the good food would be gone. Luo Bin frowned, a little annoyed.
"Hermione Granger. That's my name. You know how lonely it is at the top of the class. We should find time to discuss the mysteries in our magic books, just the two of us. Not those two!" Hermione said, lifting her chin proudly.
"Harry. Harry Potter. Sorry, I couldn't stop her!"
"Ron. Ron Weasley. Nice to meet you!"
Anyone who had read the original story knew how good the Main Character Group was at attracting trouble, and Luo Bin only wanted to grow stronger. "Luo Bin. Robin Sear. Miss Granger, everyone learns differently. I prefer studying on my own, not discussing things with others. You might want to ask someone else."
With that, he squeezed between the Golden Trio and walked off without a second thought. Behind him, Hermione stamped her feet in fury at being turned down.
By the time Luo Bin reached the Great Hall, few seats remained. Fortunately, the kitchen had prepared plenty of food. A little of everything was enough to fill his plate.
After lunch and a short rest, he headed for the Dungeon and the Potions Class he had been looking forward to.
Dressed in black from head to toe, Snape finished calling the roll. His cold, empty eyes swept over the first-years below. "Brewing potions does not require a Wand. Put yours away at once. If I see anyone's Wand while their Cauldron is simmering, their house will lose ten points!"
The last sentence set the first-years chattering about how unfair it was. But the old Bat's presence was no joke. He casually picked up a grotesque Magical Beast Specimen and swept them with another cold glance, frightening them into silence.
Snape set the Specimen down and fixed his hawklike eyes on Luo Bin. "Robin Sear, what do you get when you add powdered Asphodel Root to an Infusion of Wormwood?"
Hermione thrust her arm high. Her thighs, waist, neck, and chin all seemed to spring upward with it as she tried to catch the professor's attention. But Snape ignored her and kept his eyes locked on Luo Bin.
"A Draught of Living Death. It's an extremely powerful sleeping potion!"
Luo Bin had no idea why the scene where the protagonist got grilled had fallen to him, but fortunately, he had long since memorized One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi inside out.
"How do you obtain a Bezoar?" Snape pressed coldly.
"First, find a Goat. Then cut open its stomach and wash the debris off the Bezoar!"
"What's the difference between Monkshood and Wolfsbane?"
"They're the same plant. Both are called Aconite!"
"What are the key conditions for germinating Tongue Orchid Grass seeds?"
"Tongue Orchid Grass and Cornwall Fungus have a symbiotic relationship. Choose fertile, moist soil, keep the temperature between twenty-five and thirty degrees, and sow the seeds once the Cornwall Fungus has spread throughout it."
"What do you get when you add concentrated Fire Slug extract to Star Petal Grass infusion?"
"Glow Solution. It gives off green light on its own at night!"
Luo Bin calmly answered more than a dozen questions in a row. His classmates' jaws hung so wide open they could have fit whole eggs in their mouths.
At the front of the room, Snape's face darkened another shade. After nodding for Luo Bin to sit down, he said with obvious reluctance, "Robin Sear has shown outstanding performance in Potions Class. Five points to Slytherin. Five points from Gryffindor!"
"Yes!"
The Slytherin students slapped their desks in excitement. They had gained six points in two classes, and they were certain Slytherin would claim a seventh consecutive House Cup.
"Ugh!"
The Gryffindor students hung their heads. Hermione pursed her lips, stood up, and demanded, "Professor Severus Snape, on what grounds did you take points from Gryffindor House?"
"Miss Hermione Granger, are there nails sticking out of your chair? Or did you turn yourself into a spring in Transfiguration this morning and forget to change back? If neither is the case, your disregard for classroom discipline certainly warrants a five-point deduction!"
Pfft!
Hermione glared at Goyle, who was covering his mouth to hide a laugh, then sat down, red with embarrassment and anger!
"Enough. Pay attention. I'm about to explain the key steps for brewing a potion to cure Boils. I'll say this only once. If you fail to listen, brew it incorrectly, and cause a serious accident, you'll have only yourself to blame. First, prepare Dried Nettles, Snake Fang Powder, and Stinksap Slugs. Next..."
At the front, the old Bat rattled off Potions knowledge without pause. Below him, quill tips scratched furiously across yellowed parchment. Clearly, the first-years had already heard how dangerous a brewing mistake could be!
Once he finished explaining, the first-years paired up to brew their potions.
Snape strode between the desks, his robes billowing behind him. Though his face stayed stern, his scolding never stopped. He even reduced a short girl in glasses to tears.
Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!
The clumsy Neville added Porcupine Quills while his Cauldron was still simmering. It twisted out of shape and tipped over. The potion hissed and released green mist the moment it touched the floor.
The first-years nearby leaped onto their chairs. Neville, meanwhile, was splashed with potion, and Boils erupted across his exposed skin at a visible rate.
Cone-shaped red swellings rose from his skin. Pop! The white heads burst, and yellow-green pus gushed out like lava. The stench made everyone gag!
"Help... Help me, Professor. I—I don't want to die!" Neville begged between sniffles.
"Idiot! You can't even manage something this simple. You're a disgrace to the Longbottom family!"
Snape drew his Wand and gave it a wave. The spilled potion and warped Cauldron vanished instantly. He then ordered two first-years to take Neville to Madam Poppy Pomfrey, the school nurse!
His chilling gaze swept over a trembling Seamus and a tense Harry. Before he could get a word of rebuke out, something happened to Draco, who had been watching with amusement!
Draco covered his face with one arm and knocked away Goyle's mirror with the other. When Crabbe came closer to check on him, Draco shouted, "Get lost!"
But to him and everyone else, it came out as a hoarse horse's whinny.
He hurriedly covered his mouth. With his face no longer hidden, his dark blue cheeks were on full display, drawing a wave of laughter. "Neigh! Get lost! Chirp! Don't look at me! Hiss! Professor Snape! Snort! Help me!"
Pfft! Pfft!
Draco's pride could take no more laughter. He turned to flee the classroom, but his right leg gave way. He fell with a thud, then began crawling as his limbs moved beyond his control.
He crawled like a Black Spider, making strange whinnying sounds as he went.
Within seconds, sticky, transparent fluid began seeping from his blue-tinged skin. The first-years scrambled onto their desks, and terrified screams filled every corner of the classroom.
"What's happening to Draco?"
"Huh? That slime smells like a Slug!"
"It's a curse. It has to be! The Malfoy family champions pure Wizard blood. They must have made plenty of enemies!"
"Exactly! Draco's been calling people 'Mudbloods' and 'paupers' ever since he arrived. One of those words probably triggered the curse!"
