Will's admission to the Society for the Promotion of Alchemical Excellence had gone fairly smoothly. Although his research was hotly debated in academic circles, testing had confirmed that both his improved Wolfsbane Potion and the Sleeping Charm worked well.
After conducting several experiments, many in the society considered his work an outstanding contribution to modern Potions and Charms. As for the Wolfsbane Potion, unless someone could turn it into a spell, few Werewolves could afford its steep price.
The investigation into Will's background was soon complete. Fernando, one of the new-member reviewers, had even gone to Hogwarts to speak with him in person. After returning, he shut himself away at home and began running experiment after experiment.
Once the findings came in, most members agreed to admit Will. His background was spotless, and no one in the society believed the Hogwarts professors would help him falsify his work.
In fact, the vast majority of the society's members had studied at Hogwarts. They trusted its professors, and the older members could not imagine Dumbledore vouching for an academic fraud.
So as soon as the investigation ended, most of them gave their approval. A brilliant newcomer would be an asset to the society.
And so, today, Rock Rowle announced to the public that the society had formally invited Will to join.
Rock Rowle stood at a podium outside the Society for the Promotion of Alchemical Excellence. Facing the incessant flashes of cameras and the reporters waiting eagerly below, he worked to maintain the reserved, dignified expression his position demanded.
"As vice president of the Society for the Promotion of Alchemical Excellence, what is your opinion of Mr. Behrens?" a Daily Prophet reporter called out.
Rowle cleared his throat and raised his voice. "Mr. Will Behrens's research—both his new approach to improving the
