Will knew none of this.
Two days before the tournament began, he was on the top floor of the High Tower.
November had shrouded Hogwarts in gray mist. The treetops of the Forbidden Forest swayed in the wind.
Will held an ancient book, searching for the secrets of magic.
Then hurried footsteps sounded on the stairs, followed by a knock at the door.
"Will! Will!"
It was Harry.
Will waved his Wand, and the door swung open.
Harry stood in the doorway, breathless, his face caught between nerves and excitement.
"Will," Harry said as he rushed in, lowering his voice, "they've brought in dragons! Loads of them! All kinds.
The First Task is about dragons!"
"Thanks, Harry. I appreciate you telling me. It can't have been easy to find out."
Harry nodded without thinking. Hagrid had let it slip. That trip with Hagrid had been a little too close for comfort; Harry had nearly been spotted, while Hagrid had spent much of the time chatting with Madame Maxime.
But then Harry sensed something was off.
"Aren't you nervous?" Harry stared at him in disbelief. "They're dragons! Living dragons! Hungarian Horntails, Chinese Fireballs, Swedish Short-Snouts—every kind!"
"Being nervous won't improve our chances. We need to face this calmly, Harry." Will looked entirely at ease.
Harry had no answer to that.
He scratched his head and changed the subject. "Cedric and I have been doing special training lately.
The professors have been taking turns coaching us. Professor McGonagall taught us Transfiguration, Professor Flitwick taught us Charms, and Professor Lupin taught us how to handle dangerous creatures. Even Snape gave us some emergency Potions advice."
Will raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
*Snape was actually teaching Harry? And with so many professors helping, Harry was getting far more support than he had from Hermione alone
