Will's face turned icy. His clothes twisted into a voluminous black cloak, his figure stooped, and his shoes became bizarre pillars some forty centimeters tall. The fabric in his hand transformed into a crooked walking stick.
That outfit would have looked strange anywhere else, but here, it fit right in—leaning on his stick, Will walked deeper into filthy Knockturn Alley with an odd gait.
Yes, the destination he had just given the Floo Powder was Knockturn Alley.
Will had come to catch a few test subjects—Potion Transfiguration and several other experiments required them. He had once chosen Jamaican Black-Faced Monkeys bought from the Death Servant Pet Shop, but now he preferred to use wizards. They would make for better experiments.
In the past, Will had exercised some restraint in his use of Dark Wizards. But now that he had returned to the correct timeline, he had no intention of denying himself. He no longer needed to worry about every possible consequence when conducting experiments.
Knockturn Alley was bustling at night. There were more wizards here than during the day, and it was noisier, too.
"Dakuwaga blood and bones, only three Galleons!"
"Phoenix Bird nerves! Prime alchemy materials!"
"Blood of death! Heart's blood taken from a hundred Muggles just as they died! Only twenty Galleons!"
"Mummy bandages—use them to tie up meat when you cook!"
"Fuck off, Skye! Nobody's cooking meat with that stuff!"
Quite a few oddly dressed Dark Wizards shouted at the tops of their lungs, though most were running scams.
"Splish—splash—" Will stepped through strange, unidentifiable liquids on the street as he threaded through the crowd. His outfit attracted no attention at all.
Will passed the Toad House, the Cursed House, Mulpepper's Apothecary, and the Coffin House with practiced ease, ignoring the strange people wrapped in ragged cloaks
