Lockhart wasted the rest of the Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson. After that, his classes became theater lessons. He picked students to act out scenes from his books with him, all to make himself look "brilliant and heroic."

Just as Will had expected, the class had become pointless.

Will continued with his study plan. He had worked out a complete process for Potion Transfiguration.

Will reviewed his research on the Swelling Solution in his notebook, then let out a long yawn. The clock hanging in the Room of Requirement told him it was morning.

He swallowed a dose of Baruffio's Brain Elixir to clear his head before class. Drinking it felt much like waking from a deep sleep: his mind gradually sharpened, and the effect would last four to six hours.

But it did nothing to remove the fatigue a wizard's brain had accumulated. Once the drug wore off, that fatigue would hit even harder. Only enough rest could relieve it, which was why it worked so well alongside the Draught of Living Death.

When transfiguring Baruffio's Brain Elixir, Will had run into one tiny problem—he couldn't see the flow of magic inside his own brain.

Physical reflections, such as those in mirrors, did nothing for magic or the Wizard's Eye. Will had long since discovered that magic could bend the laws of physics in this world.
