Will strolled over to the sofa and sat down. He crossed his legs and smiled at the four of them.
"Nothing much. Just a little trick. I think we can have a proper talk now.
"We're all wizards here, so let's speak plainly. Did you capture the owner of this house?"
"We did. So what?" The young man named Simon glared at Will. "You're the bastard pulling his strings, aren't you? Go ahead and kill me if you've got the nerve!
"Even if you kill me, you won't get away. You won't escape punishment from the Magical Congress!"
"Simon, stop! Shut up!" Marc's face was white as a sheet. He had realized they had crossed someone they absolutely should not have.
This man was terrifying. He was no ordinary wizard, and they might have landed themselves in serious trouble.
Whether they lived now depended entirely on him.
"Sir, Simon was too impulsive. Please don't hold it against him. He's beside himself over what happened to his grandparents," Marc said quickly. "But we're sure you have nothing to do with the bastard who brainwashed them."
Will smiled. Marc knew when to back down.
"Relax. I have no interest in hurting any of you," Will said with a wave of his hand. "But I'd like to know what happened here."
César, the young man with the gun, said, "We can explain everything, sir."
Will shook his head. "No need. I'd rather see for myself."
As he spoke, Simon's body slid toward him against his will. Will pressed a finger to Simon's forehead and used Legilimency.
He soon understood everything.
All four young men were students at Ilvermorny.
Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had been founded in the seventeenth century by the Irish witch Isolt Sayre and her Muggle husband, James Stuart.
