Once Selwyn and Nott had left in their tattered robes, Draco glanced at Goyle and Crabbe standing on either side of him. "You two go ahead. I'm going to the Library."

Goyle and Crabbe replied respectfully, "Yes, Mr. Malfoy."

When the classroom was empty, Draco sighed softly and made his way to the Library.

As he walked, he considered his situation. His mission had got off to a painfully slow start.

Will had asked him to bring as many students inclined toward the Dark Lord as possible into his fold within a year. It was already past mid-October, and he had only just begun.

He had no idea when he would gain control of that group within Slytherin. He felt he was letting Will down after all the effort Will had put into him.

Draco shook his head without realizing it, troubled by how to pick up the pace.

At the Library entrance, he spotted Will hurrying past. Their eyes met, but neither spoke. They stepped around each other in silence.

Draco could not help turning to watch him. Will carried several books and was heading upstairs.

Judging by his direction, Draco guessed he was probably going to the High Tower through the Vanishing Cabinet.

He missed his days at the High Tower. He had often had little clashes with Ronald, but he had always got along with Michael from Ravenclaw. Cedric was a good person too, and Will always made him feel at ease...

All in all, life at the High Tower had felt easy and free.

Now, so many things weighed on him that he could barely breathe. Being a Double Agent was more stressful than he had imagined.

Without Will's protection, nothing seemed to be going smoothly—

"Draco?" A voice pulled him from his thoughts.

He turned.
