Shock waves kept exploding across the sand, kicking up clouds of grit. Amid one deafening blast after another, the Great Beast kept taking shots at the Knight Order. Yet with the Poplar Tree cut down, it was as good as blind. Dozens of shots later, it had left nothing but craters.

The knights made no effort to lower their voices, and Xia Mei's expression froze.

Xia Mei's eyes grew resolute. "I promised to help the Prophet defeat the Great Kun. I can't go back on my word."

Xia Mei shrugged, her fair, fleshy legs swinging on either side of the Earth Dragon. "I can't help it. When I first crossed over, I couldn't afford food. If the Prophet hadn't happened to pass by and taken me in, I would've starved."
