Background / History

The Formless Demon was left in the Monster Graveyard because even the giants could not deal with it. In its original universe, an attack with a Planet-Buster Laser Weapon caused it to adapt, gain laser powers, and kill its attackers 332.

Chen Feng later encountered it as a white egg and hired it as a bodyguard. He could no longer inspect its abilities or give it orders through the erased Monster Escort System, and he did not know when its contract would end. Knowing it ranked among the multiverse's top ten monsters, he stopped Kail Meow from eating the egg 353.

Chen Feng released it into Luka City to disrupt both the Hero of Magic and the Demon Kings. Attacks from their forces drove its rapid evolution, and its clones spread through the city. When the contract expired, it returned to its own universe 358 361.

Appearance

The Monster's shape changes in response to outside influences 358 361.

• Dormant form — a white egg, described as hundreds of meters tall in the Monster Graveyard and sofa-sized when Chen Feng appraises it 332 353.
• Early combat form — develops wings and a turtle-like head after being struck by a Dragon's breath 358.
• Evil Eye form — develops eight legs and a mass of rotating eyes after the Spider Queen attacks it 358.

Abilities & Skills

Reactive evolution

The Monster gains powers in response to what affects it, including attacks and non-hostile influences 332 354 358 361.

• Copied Chen Feng's Spatial Teleportation after he used it on the Monster, then teleported nearby soldiers away 354.
• Gained amplified versions of the Spider Queen's Evil Eyes; their reflected effects severely damaged and incapacitated her 358.
• Reflected the attribute theft of Hermes's Shepherd Glove and gained an Attribute Theft skill 360.
• New abilities replace old ones: Chen Feng observed its eyes displacing its earlier spines 361.
• Could use copied Single-Entity Rank skills only once. It could not perfectly copy Xia Mei's higher-ranked Multiverse Reversal and had to submit a request to use it 361.

Cloning and survival

• Produced 100,000 clones in response to the Slime Queen's cloning technique; each had the Monster's level, skills, and attributes 358.
• Reassembled after the Spider Queen's Corrosion Evil Eye appeared to destroy it 358.
• Destroyed the summoned demon god Glasya-Labolas after the demon had torn through its doppelgangers 360.

Behavioral limits

• Has no intelligence; Chen Feng concludes that it reacts to hostility and to goodwill or malice rather than pursuing a plan of its own 361.
• Chen Feng believes it will not attack if left alone and can be influenced without hostility. He uses Kail Meow's uncomplicated enjoyment of smoking to help calm it 361.

Relationships

• Chen Feng — hired the Monster as a bodyguard, then released it in Luka City as part of his strategy against two opposing factions. The escort arrangement made the Monster his employer and put Chen at risk of erasure if it died 353 358 360.
• Kail Meow — lounged on its egg and smoked pipes; Chen later sent her among its clones to influence them without hostility 353 361.
• Spider Queen — attacked it with multiple Evil Eyes, which it copied and turned against her 358.
• Slime Queen — confronted it with thousands of clones, prompting its much larger clone army 358.
• Dark Elf Peloro — tried to drain its attributes with a World Item; the Monster reflected the effect and later destroyed the demon Peloro summoned against it 360.
