A wave of air surged out of the sea of trees.
Luo Hou swallowed, staring in alarm at the figures that materialized in an instant. They all carried the familiar aura of Dou Wangs, but the pale golden wings on the young man leading them were particularly striking. A three-legged monstrous bird seemed to loom faintly behind him, and his aura was terrifying beyond belief.
"Junior Xiao Yan, congratulations on passing the test!"
Luo Hou's thoughts raced. Then he stepped forward with a genial smile and said politely, "As the gatekeeper of the final trial for the new students, I ought to stand in your way, Junior Xiao Yan. But now, that seems entirely unnecessary. I'm willing to let you through."

"Then I suppose I should thank you, Senior Luo Hou?" Xiao Yan raised his brows, looking thoroughly amused.
"No need for that. But Junior Xiao Yan, there are over fifty new students here, each with five points of fire energy. Counting what we can take, that's a full hundred and fifty points. We could split it thirty-seventy-no, I'll give it all to you. How does that sound-"
Luo Hou leaned closer and whispered.
"Five points is too little. I don't make money off paupers." Xiao Yan smiled and shook his head.
"Then who do you make money off?" Luo Hou froze.
"Whoever has money-" Xiao Yan stared straight at Luo Hou with a cheerful smile. "Senior Luo Hou, hand over however many fire energy points you have. If we come to blows, the new students are bound to see. Let's spare you that embarrassment."
