Power Progression

Background and History

Medusa and her twin sister grew up together in the Snake-People Holy City. After traffickers kidnapped her sister, Medusa led a rescue, but other Snake-People were killed or went missing. She resolved to become strong enough to protect both her sister and the tribe. Their ambitions differed: Medusa wanted to lead their people out of hardship, while her sister wanted freedom 23.

Tribal law allowed only one of the sisters to become queen. Rather than fight Medusa for the position, her sister used a space-twisting secret art and disappeared. Medusa later kept her unconscious sister in an ice coffin within a hidden chamber and spent years seeking a way to wake her 22 23 26.

As queen, Medusa pursued reforms despite the First Elder’s repeated objections under tribal law. The Second Elder supported her from the beginning, and the Third and Fourth Elders gradually came to her side 21.

Appearance

Medusa is known for her striking beauty and cool, regal bearing. She has a snake tail before her evolution; afterward, she has legs 18 20 114.

• Returning to her usual clothes after serving Xiao Yan as a maid restores the imposing appearance her subjects know as their queen 20.

Personality

Medusa is proud and commanding, but her decisions are shaped by responsibility to her people. She accepts a humiliating bargain with Xiao Yan for the chance to evolve and help the Snake-People Tribe escape its harsh desert circumstances 19. In front of her Elders, she defends Xiao Yan while keeping their private arrangement concealed 20.

Her reserve gives way around her sister. She maintains a long vigil beside Cai Die’s coffin and weeps when they reunite 22 26. She remains protective after the reunion, initially worrying about the risks of having Cai Die undergo evolution with her 27.

Dou Qi and combat

• At Peak Dou Emperor, she overwhelms Hai Bodong, a Five-Star Dou Emperor 17.
• Following her evolution, she reaches Dou Zong; her aura is powerful enough to startle Yun Yun, who had known her as a Dou Emperor 99 114.

Heaven Swallowing Python evolution

• She and Cai Die undertake the Snake-People Tribe’s dangerous bloodline-evolution ceremony with Xiao Yan’s protection 27 28.
• After emerging as small Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Pythons, they later awaken and take human form. Their evolution remains incomplete until their souls merge with those of the little pythons 29 41 99.

Leadership

• Once the First Elder ceases obstructing her, Medusa directs preparations for the evolution ceremony and the tribe acts on her orders 21.

• Cai Die — Her younger twin sister and foremost personal concern. Xiao Yan names the sisters Cai Lin and Cai Die after their reunion 26 27.

• Return to the Snake-People Tribe: She agrees to serve Xiao Yan in exchange for his help evolving, then presents him publicly as an honored guest. His intervention against the First Elder clears the way for her preparations 19 20 21.
• Cai Die’s rescue and the sisters’ evolution: Xiao Yan enters Cai Die’s dream and brings her back to consciousness. He later guides both sisters through the Heavenly Flame ceremony 22 24 25 26 27 28 29.
• Relocation and alliance: The Flame Alliance supports the Snake-People Tribe’s move toward territory where humans and Snake-People are to coexist peacefully. Cai Lin helps oversee the relocation 120 125.
