The Hunters appeared just as they got their hands on the Leaf Pearl and pursued them relentlessly. Under normal circumstances, ordinary Hunters would have been no match for the Bale Mercenary Corps' Elite Group. But after one battle after another, they were exhausted. Forced to face a powerful enemy before they could rest, they immediately fell into a losing position.
Their attackers soon realized that the person they were escorting was an ordinary man who could not fight, so they aimed every attack at him, leaving the mercenaries in an even worse state. They could only retreat, stumbling into attacks from Slime Monsters and Mist Poison Crocodiles whenever they fled down the wrong path.
Just now, they had fallen into another trap. They all thought they would die there when the Red Fang Mercenary Corps suddenly appeared.
Throughout the chase, the Bale mercenaries had inflicted heavy losses on their pursuers—which only made the Hunters more determined to finish them off, or the job would be a complete loss. The Red Fang Mercenary Corps arrived at just the right moment, fresh and ready to give the battered Hunters a thorough beating.
Only later did they learn that a lone Hunter had spotted the Red Fang Mercenary Corps. Seeing that they were relatively weak and carrying plenty of spoils, he had decided to lure them into the trap and make a little extra money to offset his losses.
Instead, he had bitten off more than he could chew.
Once the Red Fang mercenaries learned who those people were, they showed no mercy. They left them in the mud of the Fog Marsh forever, unable to harm anyone else.
The Bale Mercenary Corps had paid dearly this time. Despite sending a team made up entirely of elites, fewer than half had made it
