The battlefield had been torn apart, its ground scarred and broken. The bodies of several powerful Soul Beasts lay there, still radiating the aura of their formidable cultivation. They had fallen only moments ago, and blood kept flowing from their wounds.

Only one Soul Beast remained alive: the Three-Headed Python. Dragging its battered body, it slowly slithered toward the Seven-Petal Orchid, greed flashing in all three pairs of eyes. After a battle, a Soul Beast would normally devour the defeated side's corpses and Beast Cores. But something far more tempting lay before it now.

Its flaming head opened its blood-soaked jaws without hesitation, ready to swallow the Seven-Petal Orchid whole.

Just then, a terrifying attack swept toward the Three-Headed Python, aimed straight at the vital spot seven inches below its heads.

Huang Dabiao glanced at the attack and frowned. Something seemed to occur to him, though he could not be sure.

The powerful blow struck the Three-Headed Python, but failed to bring it down.

Though the Three-Headed Python was at the end of its rope, its peak seventy-thousand-year cultivation meant it was far from helpless. It narrowly twisted its vital spot out of the way, but the blow still hurled it into the ground, kicking up dust that blotted out the sky.

When the dust cleared, the python's enormous body came into view. A massive wound now marked it, a mere inch from its vital spot.

The Three-Headed Python struggled upright. Its three heads flicked their tongues incessantly, and all three pairs of blood-red eyes glared ahead with hatred.

An old man slowly emerged from the dust.

"Heh. As expected of a Three-Headed Python at the peak of ninety thousand years. Even gravely wounded, it survived a blow from me!"
