Background and History

Huang served at court until his opposition to corrupt officials cost them income. Forced to resign, he became a mercenary, but the officials continued to suppress him and confined his wife and child in Heaven Dou City. He founded the Gold-rank Ironblood Mercenary Group and operated it alone 44.

After correctly betting on Yang Que in an arena match, Huang invited him to tea. They became friendly over dinner, and Yang proposed that Huang join his newly founded Yanhuang Mercenary Group. Huang disbanded Ironblood and transferred its points to Yanhuang, immediately raising the younger group to Gold rank. At first, Huang believed a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan pendant meant Yang had powerful clan backing 43 44.

In the Star Dou Great Forest, Yang revealed that he was a Shrek Academy student rather than a clan member. Huang chose to remain with him after seeing his unusual Soul Rings and hearing Yang promise to reunite his family within three years. During Yang’s dangerous absorption of a nearly eighty-thousand-year Soul Ring, Huang spent rare herbs, pills, and his own Soul Power to keep him alive. Yang later gave Huang the Right Arm Soul Bone; afterward, Huang began calling him “Young Master” instead of “Leader” 48 58 59.

Personality

Huang is blunt and sociable, but years of persecution have made him cautious about risking his chance to rescue his family. He voices his doubts when Yang proposes dangerous plans, yet follows his lead in battle and guards him while he cultivates.
