The Lin Yuan Team had no matches scheduled for the next two days.

Lin Yuan lay in a lounge chair in the courtyard. Xuanwu Guga dozed on his lap, its body rising and falling gently with each breath. The other Gugas chased one another around the yard.

Bai He came down the corridor.

"Lin Yuan, Huyan Zhen, the Elephant Armor Sect's leader, is here. He's in the main hall."

Lin Yuan gently lifted Xuanwu Guga onto the lounge chair. Still half asleep, Xuanwu Guga rolled over and kept sleeping.

In the main hall, Huyan Zhen sat in a guest seat, his tea untouched. Niu Gao sat across from him, making occasional conversation.

Lin Yuan entered, and Huyan Zhen rose.

"Pavilion Master Lin."

Huyan Zhen sat down and was silent for a long while.

"Pavilion Master Lin, I came today because I want to join Linyuan Pavilion."

"Have you thought it through?"

"To tell you the truth, I originally planned to join Spirit Hall." Huyan Zhen clenched his fists. "Spirit Hall promised me a place among the Upper Three Sects and preferential resources for the Elephant Armor Sect. But without enough strength of my own, I'd still be at their mercy—a dog they could summon and dismiss at will."

"Rather than remain trapped at the Soul Douluo level for the rest of my life, I'd rather take a chance."

Lin Yuan stood.
