Early on the weekend morning, Kyle had just stepped out of his room to go for a run when Cedric, who had apparently been waiting in the common room for who knew how long, blocked his way.
Cedric had a large wooden crate tucked under his left arm and was dragging a drowsy-looking big guy along with his right hand.

Looking out at the darkness still lingering beyond the windows, Kyle did not understand why they had to hold the Quidditch team tryout so early.
And why was it a tryout held specifically for him alone?
Cedric quickly answered Kyle's question.
"The fact that you've become Hufflepuff's new Beater definitely can't be kept secret."
Cedric glanced at the sky outside the castle, where only the faintest sliver of light had appeared.
"But if we test you at a time like this, when no one is around, we can minimize the chance of information leaking out."
