Schrödinger's Cat (Double-Length Chapter)

"Visible particle waves," the black cat explained calmly. "Most of the residual energy fluctuations around us have dissipated, but that distinctive frequency can't fool anyone."

The cat extended a paw and gently grasped at empty air, as though catching something invisible.

"These fluctuations are almost identical to Divinity Factors."

Loris leaned in to examine the flickering points of light. Then something occurred to him, and his expression changed drastically.

"Great Scholar Schrödinger, don't take me for someone who's never studied physics. Those are Divinity Factors."

"If divinity is involved, then a Sage must have intervened. The Great Xin Dynasty has openly violated the Sacred Pact and provoked a war. I'll petition the royal family of Great Britain and the Church for divine punishment."

The Sacred Pact was a red line drawn by the strongest powers of East and West, forbidding those in the Upper Four Realms from casually interfering in worldly disputes.

"Are you questioning my judgment?"

The black cat tilted its head slightly and stared straight at Loris.

In that instant, Loris felt himself become an insignificant quantum particle, caught in a Superposition State of both existing and not existing. His life or death rested on a single thought from the cat.

"No, no, I'm not." Cold sweat instantly soaked Loris's back, and he retreated several steps.

"I just... I just can't understand how a backward place like the Great Xin Dynasty could produce a genius capable of touching Divinity Factors. Great Britain should be his homeland!"
