Beneath the lighthouse, everyone in the Straw Hat Pirates was busy. Nami had the hardest job: drawing up a sailing plan. As the navigator, that was her responsibility.
Rubick said, "I'll go check on those two strange people."
"Don't bother!"
Usopp called from the ship, "Hey, Uncle! Those two jumped into the sea and escaped!"
Rubick flew aboard. They had only tied the pair up with rope, so their escape was hardly surprising. But when he spotted the Log Pose lying in a corner, he couldn't help smiling.
He beckoned, and a gust of wind swept the Log Pose into his hand.
"Uncle!"
Nami shrieked, "Mister, my Compass is broken!"
Rubick went over to her. Nami was staring in horror at the Compass on her wrist. Its needle was spinning as fast as a propeller.
Sanji arrived carrying plates of food. As soon as he set them on the table, a delicious aroma filled the air.
"What could be more important than a full stomach?"
Seeing that Luffy had already sat down, Rubick quickly filled a plate and placed it in front of Nami. When eating with Luffy, everyone needed their own portion. He had learned that the hard way.
Rubick said, "Don't worry. That's normal."
He set the Log Pose on the table. "That's how the Grand Line works. For special reasons, ordinary compasses don't work here. That's why people use Log Poses."
"A Log Pose?"
Nami examined the Log Pose in her hand. It looked like a watch with a glass sphere set into it, a needle suspended inside.
Rubick went on, "There are seven routes through the Grand Line. The journey depends on which one you take. A Log Pose records the magnetic field of the next island and points the way."
"There's also the Eternal Pose.
