Influence in Syrup Village

Powell heads the wealthy Anderson family, whose authority in Syrup Village is effectively absolute despite holding no noble title from Oykot Kingdom. He initially resists educating ordinary villagers because greater literacy would weaken his family’s influence. With Kaya as his only daughter, he worries that she will be unable to preserve the estate after his death 37.

Two years before meeting Rubick, Powell took in Klahadore, who claimed to be a former shipboard worker left destitute after offending his captain. Klahadore became the family’s butler, concealing his identity as the pirate Kuro 32.

Meeting Rubick and Escaping Kuro’s Control

Powell first meets Rubick at Usopp’s house, arriving with twenty or thirty villagers, guards, and hired men after Rubick’s bounty-hunter joke causes alarm.
