Evelyn had only just brought Stussy, who had arrived at the entrance to the Witch's Banquet, inside to look around.
If her brother had not instructed her to, she would not have done it.
Still, after chatting with Stussy, Evelyn had formed a fairly good impression of her.

Stussy's gaze shifted as she pondered who would go out of their way to contact her like this, even using Evelyn, one of the "three witch sisters," as an intermediary.
Someone acquainted with Evelyn, someone of high standing, someone who could not show their face openly.
All sorts of thoughts flashed through Stussy's mind in that brief moment.
Could they be trying to bring me under their control?
Stussy was certain that whoever wanted to see her was someone she did not know.
That was the most likely explanation.
After all, she was all but guaranteed to become the next "Queen of the Pleasure District."
Plenty of people across the seas had entertained that idea, and all had ultimately failed.

It was simply in a weaker position now, having lost a chunk of its business to the Witch's Banquet in the competition over entertainment.
In the New World as it stood, it was still quite a way from attaining the status of an Underworld King.
Still, the Pleasure District was an organization with deep foundations and hundreds of years of history.
Anyone who truly managed to bring it under their control would gain a tremendous advantage in whatever they did.
