Properties

• Chakra flows through pathways in the body. The Byakugan can reveal those pathways and their strength 3 51.
• Reserves differ between people: Eiji has unusually large reserves, while Kushina’s Uzumaki heritage gives her far more chakra than most people 3 52.
• Chakra expenditure is finite. Precise control can reduce waste, but cannot make a chakra-based technique cost virtually nothing 20.
• Shadow Clones divide their creator’s chakra equally. A clone’s remaining chakra returns to the original when it is dispelled or destroyed 33.

Control and Perception

• Eiji’s Six Eyes reveal chakra flow, allowing him to anticipate movement, examine chakra pathways and distinguish a Shadow Clone from its creator 3 33 39.
• The Six Eyes also give Eiji unusually precise control. He forms a Rasengan on his first attempt and masters the Mystical Palm Technique after a week of study 19 27.
• Changes to chakra flow can expose genjutsu. Eiji can restore his normal flow to break its effect; his large reserves and precise control also help him resist Shadow Imitation and counter an attempted Mind Body Switch 17 41.
• Chakra signatures can be sensed at a distance. Kushina detects an approaching Kumogakure force, while Eiji detects nearly a hundred signatures within range of his Six Eyes 50.

Uses

• Rasengan — Forms rotating chakra in the palm. Larger versions are destructive but consume substantially more chakra; Eiji estimates he could use about ten meter-wide Rasengans before nearly exhausting himself 19 20.
• Mystical Palm Technique — Uses carefully controlled chakra to heal. Tsunade warns that imprecise use could kill an ally 27.
• Multiple Shadow Clone Technique — Kushina’s large reserves let her create more than five hundred physical clones at once 52.
• Lightning Release Body Armor — Coats the user in lightning chakra to increase speed, strength and defense 50 51.
