Shimura Danzō confronted six-year-old Naruto and Sasuke with Root and the Sealing Team, determined to kill them after remembering how they tortured him in his previous life. He believed the two were trapped and promised them a century of torture in Root, unaware that a Sealing Team ninja had fled.

Ye Tian panicked as monsters and Cultists overwhelmed Konoha, while the Third Hokage led the villagers to safety. Naruto and Sasuke learned that the survivors in the Underground City had fought their way to the fifth floor and established Safe Zones.
